Making fabric covered frames is a very satisfying craft skill to acquire. The materials for making soft fabric frames are readily available and relatively inexpensive. They can be mixed nicely with commercially available frames and are a nice relief from hard cold surfaces.
In Beginner's Guide to Fabric Frames, all of the steps for making smooth surface fabric frames, plus many alternative adhesives and methods, trouble shooting tips and methods for fabric selection, were covered thoroughly. If you have not read that book, you may want to refer to it. In this book, we will repeat only the very basic information, but will add special effects created by shirring, making multiple openings in frames, fabric bow hangers and two methods for covering photo albums that feature fabric covered frames.
Many of the projects are completely glued, and have no sewing involved. Follow these easy instructions and soon you will have made a beautiful fabric covered frame. There is nothing that can equal the personal touch that your fabric covered frame adds to the framed item.
